Last Thursday I had an amazing start to the Class of 2013 Senior season! Though we had to move locations due to Debby, everything went awesome! Hal was a lot of fun & despite saying he had no idea what to do, rocked the camera!
I am definitely excited about what else the Class of 2013 has in store! 🙂
Thanks Hal! Oh, & if you know Hal once he gets his Rep cards he can get you a set of FREE Wallets……just sayin’.

So, first there was Facebook (well really myspace, but let’s pretend that didn’t happen). Then Pintrest. Now, Polyvore. If you haven’t found Polyvore & you are a lover of clothes this site is Ah-Maze-ing. This is the home page. It’s basically an online closet of every piece of clothing, accessory, bag, etc.. you could ever want. You log on & design outfits. It’s the MECCA of window shopping to the extreme & without leaving your house.
From there you can use the top tabs to select people to follow, or ideas already done, where to shop & of course how to create your own. There are templates to choose from or a basic design. Here I chose a “Fashion” template.
From there you scroll through all the choices (even categorized by celebrity) to create a look you love. Remove, flip, whatever you want to make it your own & how you like it. Here’s my end result. (I love color….even with black/white)
NOW, once you start saving collages you can share them with friends, etc.. SO if any of you fashionistas out there make something amazing, or something you think would be great for a Senior Session, SHARE IT WITH ME. I will post it here (with your name to give you credit of course 🙂 for all to see your fabulous designs.
Alright, now I will leave you to kill 2-3 hours just exploring Polyvore. Please don’t send hate mail when you find you lost almost an entire day to it though. 🙂

Ever have that “Aha” moment? That time when you realize you have been doing something wrong & what to do right, or just the moment when you find the answer you’ve been looking for??? Recently, this happened to me. See, I am NOT a business person. Never have been. I minored in Marketing at college, but I am not a sales person.
That being said, in WHATEVER you do in life you need to do your best. Give 100%. If you are doing that, then you should not feel as if your time is not valued. Time away from your family & friends, even when you LOVE your job (as I do) time is important. So, I realized if I want anyone to value my photography & my time, I need to value it myself. What does this mean?
Well, it means pricing is changing. It also means since your Senior Year is a once in a lifetime thing. You only have a few of these moments in your life, times you can’t re-do & you need to get them right the first time. In order to make sure that the moments I capture for my clients are perfect for all to see (& to make sure they don’t spend their life on a CD without ever seeing the light of day), I now offer PRINT PACKAGES! 
No, not WalMart packages (I am NOT WalMart) & NO I am not expecting people to spend $1000 on their prints….or even $500. I’m not crazy. 🙂 I just know this is the easy way for YOU. Already printed, wallets, canvas, in albums, on your iPhone or iPad (or Android) & on a Senior Keepsake box. Perfect to hold an album, as well as any other keepsakes from this VERY SPECIAL time in your life. 
So, when does this all start? July 1st it will all take effect. Any sessions booked between TODAY & JULY 1st will be booked at the current pricing.

Last Friday I got the honor of photographing Miss Kelly as she graduated from UCHS. From beginning to end. Even her party afterwards. A long, but fun night. 🙂
Her mom commented on how nice it was not to have to follow her around & take all the photos, but just enjoy the time. Which is why I offer Graduation photos. So the graduate can have all the photos they want & the parents don’t have to worry about it. 🙂

Ok. So I know here in Lake City & surrounding areas many of you wait till the last minute to get your Senior Portraits done. Spring sessions…..my question is WHY?
Yes, it’s hot here in Florida (which is why you do your session in the evening of course…or early am if you can do it :-). But I know Senior year encompasses two things. Being very busy & costing a lot. Many of you have sports or other activities that take up much of your time during the school year. So, during the school year you find scheduling your session hard. Fitting it in with all your other activities & having a social life can be difficult. So, why not do it when a lot of those commitments are not happening? Like say, the summer before?
Another aspect of Senior year…..the cost. Senior photos, Senior Prom, Senior trips, announcements, graduation, etc….. this list gets long. And it all pretty much happens in the Spring. So, by doing your portraits in the Summer or Fall you are helping spread out that cost…doesn’t make it seem so large anymore as it’s not all back to back. 
Think about it? Doesn’t it all make sense? NOW, if you simply LOVE Fall then by all means do your session in the Fall (which for Florida the color changing trees are in December/January, lol). If you LOVE Spring as a season, do them in Spring. But if you are simply waiting to wait, why not check one thing off your list? Start feeling like a Senior NOW & start your year off with a BANG! Some amazing photos at unique locations, planned around YOU.

Graduations are here, very soon it will officially be summer! For those thinking of getting their Senior Session out of the way this summer (I am doing a blog post tomorrow on why that may be a good idea) here’s a few ideas on what to wear for your session!
Below are a few great ideas, but as always make sure the clothes you bring represent YOU! Your interests, personality everything that screams you! Did I make these myself? No. Every time I try they look wonky, so I borrow from other photographers who have done a much better job. These are from Peach Moon Photography in Michigan. I liked them because they coordinated by color palate, which is a great way to choose your photos. Especially if you are only choosing one location for your photos, but want different looks.

I had a revelation this morning! Why not include some of your MOST IMPORTANT Senior moments in with your session? So, I changed some things. I now offer PROM PHOTOS included with Tier 3 packages or you can add them to any package. You can also add Graduation photos to any package (complete with graduation announcements). Now you can have 3 of your most important Senior Moments professionally photographed to remember always!
Another idea I had is offering beach sessions and Urban Jacksonville (if you want new, fun locations) settings with ANY of the Tier packages! That means if you want all your Senior photos to be beach themed, we can do that, even if you only want a Tier 1 package!
