I booked my Senior Portraits…now what? Lake City FL Senior Portrait Photographer | North Central FL Senior Portrait Photographer

It’s Summer! That wonderful time of year filled with late nights, vacations, trips to the pool, river, lake or beach (anything involving water basically, lol) memories with friends & just relax. But for the Class of 2014 it’s also time to think about being a Senior. The time you have waited for since Kindergarten (ok, maybe truly since like 5th grade, but still). It’s awesome, fun, filled with amazing memories & moments. But also with preparing for the future. But while you’re choosing colleges, checking on what you need to graduate & more you OF COURSE are booking your Senior Portraits. Whether in Summer or Fall you are excited (ok, maybe the girls are excited…the boys, not so much, but mom wants them). Shopping already. Thinking of what you will wear, how to do your hair, where to go & more!

Gone are the days of an all studio session that seems eerily similar to school photos (ok, so I’ve heard those are still an option, but is that really what you want?). It’s all about LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Beach session? Sure. Downtown urban feel? Why not (you can even do those in Jacksonville for a larger more urban feel complete with parking garages….yes, parking garages. They make for some killer photos). What ever you want, you can make it happen.

Once you booked that session, picked out your clothes you’re ready! Or are you? What about your smile? How to smile for a professional photographer without doing the cheesy school photo smile….It’s simple & all you need is a friend with a phone to snap some pics.

Practice a few of the different kinds of smiles or facial expressions we photogs love.

1) Serious look (be sure to add a little hint of a smile so you don’t look ticked off)

2) Big smile (laughing while doing this makes it look even better)

3) Shy smile (think coy, flirty..see 1st picture)

4) Romantic Gaze (look off into the distance…away from the camera)

5) Smirks with attitude (a little fierce here)

6) Small Smiles

7) Devious faces (yep, think back to your childhood for that “up to no good” smile)

After your friend snapped the pics, check them out. See what works & what didn’t. You can probably even figure out

 small changes to rock it. And of course if they are awesome why not Tweet those pics or Post them to Instagram? While you’re at it tag #seniorvision  so I can check them out! If I see some awesome pics I may just give a “you ROCK the camera” discount. 😉

Go out & ROCK the camera,After all that practice you will be ready for your session. It will be just as amazing as you picture in your head & all your friends will be jealous of your awesomeness. And of course, the photographer can always help you relax to make sure those pics are Fab.

Destiny :: UCHS Class of 2013 Lake Butler FL Senior Portraits | Lake Butler FL Senior Portrait Photographer

Last month I got to meet up with this gorgeous girl not once, but twice. Mainly because our 2 hour session was broken into two 1 hour sessions. 😉 But let me say, she rocked them both. Her images came out amazing as her clothes, makeup, everything was perfect. And oh how I love her eyes.

We had fun, had to climb over some railings, tromp through some possibly snake infested weeds, but none of that matters when her photos came out as gorgeous as they did. I LOVE each & every time I get to photograph a Senior. You guys are all amazing! You make my job so easy! Just by being who you are & flat-out putting out some amazing photos.

Thank you Destiny & your family for allowing me to capture you for this very special time in your life! Congratulations & I can already tell you will be a success no matter what direction you go.

What’s going on right??? Well, on January 2nd I will have a ONE DAY SALE. What does this mean? Any session** booked that day (from 8am-midnight) will receive 40% off their session.   **All sessions booked MUST BE DONE via email & the date won’t be set in stone until I receive the $50 security deposit (while will be taken off when the remainder of your session fee is due). All sessions must be scheuduled betwen February through September of 2013.

So, go out! Spread the word! Tell your friends (you receive an additional $10 off your session for each referral) and be ready to set your date for your Senior Portrait session!  I am ONLY AVAILABLE on Tuesday evenings, Friday evenings or Saturday mornings as well as Monday, Wednesday or Friday mornings for sessions. I only do 2-3 sessions per week so be ready to book ASAP!!!!!!

So, I saw this quote & HAD to share it…..it’s a perfect life quote. Especially when you’re consistently worrying about what others thing (& we ALL do it). Often we just need someone to give us a little push to make that leap. But it’s worth it.

It’s AUGUST. School is starting soon, things will be going into high gear for YOUR Senior Year!  Don’t forget to book your Senior Portrait session before the craziness begins! The White Tshirt. A fashion staple. | Lake City, FL Senior Portrait Photographer |

I was watching a show yesterday & they were giving tips on one of the American classics of fashion. The white tshirt.   Ways to take a simple white t (they had a $15 one from Gap), add a few accessories & different bottoms/layers to make it work for you for multiple occasions.

This is PERFECT thinking for any photo shoot. ALWAYS bring a white shirt & black shirt to a session. Why?  Because they are staples. No matter what else you bring they can be mixed & matched, dressed up & down to make fabulous, timeless outfits that can fit any location & style.

Here are a couple ideas I through together from Polyvore.  With my upcoming Football Ad session coming Monday in Live Oak as well as TWO upcoming Senior Sessions for some CHS class of 2013 members the Senior portrait season is in full swing!  Plan ahead!

How Pintrest Can Help YOUR session! :: Lake City, FL Senior Portrait Photographer | Senior Portraits

So, many are on Pintrest. Highly addictive & definitely gobbles up time before you know it. But how else can you get great fashion ideas, future home ideas & more all in one place?  🙂  I LOVE Pintrest.  And, as I have pointed out in a previous blog about the wonders of Pintrest you can read here, it can REALLY help your session.

I am busy scheduling my Senior Portrait sessions for the Class of 2013 & on the new questionnaire my Seniors fill out I ask about Pintrest. Already I have a board set up for an upcoming Senior session. She & I can both post clothing, posing, props, location, etc… ideas so that we are on the same page for her session & can be sure that her session is AMAZING. Because that’s the end result we both want.

It’s a fun way to keep in touch, plan your session & through out ideas……gotta admit again. I love Pintrest.

Change can be a good thing…or even a GREAT thing! Lake City, FL Senior Portrait Photographer | North Central Florida Senior Portrait Photographer

Ever have that “Aha” moment? That time when you realize you have been doing something wrong & what to do right, or just the moment when you find the answer you’ve been looking for??? Recently, this happened to me.  See, I am NOT a business person. Never have been. I minored in Marketing at college, but I am not a sales person.

That being said, in WHATEVER you do in life you need to do your best. Give 100%. If you are doing that, then you should not feel as if your time is not valued. Time away from your family & friends, even when you LOVE your job (as I do) time is important.  So, I realized if I want anyone to value my photography & my time, I need to value it myself. What does this mean?

Well, it means pricing is changing.  It also means since your Senior Year is a once in a lifetime thing.  You only have a few of these moments in your life, times you can’t re-do & you need to get them right the first time. In order to make sure that the moments I capture for my clients are perfect for all to see (& to make sure they don’t spend their life on a CD without ever seeing the light of day), I now offer PRINT PACKAGES!  

No, not WalMart packages (I am NOT WalMart) & NO I am not expecting people to spend $1000 on their prints….or even $500. I’m not crazy. 🙂   I just know this is the easy way for YOU. Already printed, wallets, canvas, in albums, on your iPhone or iPad (or Android) & on a Senior Keepsake box. Perfect to hold an album, as well as any other keepsakes from this VERY SPECIAL time in your life. 

So, when does this all start?  July 1st it will all take effect.  Any sessions booked between TODAY & JULY 1st will be booked at the current pricing.
